SEAT Sport UK will welcome a number of top Irish celebrities at Mondello Park on Sunday (24th July), when they come to help cheer on the team at Rounds 16, 17 and 18 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Fresh from collecting the ‘Jameson Best Irish Film of All Time Award’, Dick Massey (drums) and Karen Coleman (lead vocals) from The Commitments will be special guests of SEAT Sport UK. Dick played Billy ‘The Animal’ Mooney in Alan Parker’s 1991 film adaptation of Roddy Doyle’s acclaimed novel, which has been seen by an estimated one billion people worldwide. The soundtrack albums sold approximately 12 million copies and the band – which is officially recognized as 'The World's Hardest Working Band'- continues to play to sell-out audiences across the world.

Cork singing sensation Carol Anthony, who was nominated for a Meteor Award in the Best Irish Pop Act category this year alongside Westlife, Brian McFadden, D’ Side, Ronan Keating and The Corrs, will also be a special guest of SEAT Sport UK. Carol will be at Mondello Park with her celebrity boyfriend Jamie Belton, who played Ross O'Rourke in the Irish soap Fair City.

There could be other surprises too!

Out on the demanding track, SEAT Sport UK is aiming for a repeat of last year’s race results when Jason Plato won a round of the BTCC at Mondello Park in his Toledo Cupra.

Team-mate Luke Hines has fond memories of the Irish circuit, for it was there that he made his BTCC debut in 2003, while Mondello Park is something of a distant memory for James Pickford for he last raced there in the Palmer Audi series race in 1999.

A 30 minute qualifying session takes place for Round 16 at Mondello Park on Saturday 23rd July at 15.10, with three 14 lap races on Sunday, beginning at 10.55, 13.50 and 16.14.
