SEAT Sport UK: SEAT targets race win triumph at Brands Hatch

After 27 races, 525 racing laps and 930 racing miles, the 2008 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship reaches an exciting finale on Sunday (21st September) when the final three races of the season take place at Brands Hatch.

SEAT and Jason Plato have won more races than any other team and driver so far this year, and it will be a fantastic way to end the season if they can both remain on top of the race winners charts. The Leon TDI has won 10 races already this season; with seven victories coming in the last 12 races, while Jason has eight race wins compared to arch rival and Championship leader Fabrizio Giovanardi, who has five wins.

SEAT Sport UK is also the only team to have won all three races in one day in 2008, and has qualified on pole five times in the last five race meetings, so, with Darren Turner driving the other Leon TDI, who would bet against another dominant SEAT performance?

Jason is 44 points behind Giovanardi in the Drivers’ standings with a maximum of 52 points to play for. He needs to win Race 1 and 2, finish on the podium in Race 3 and for Giovanardi to have a nightmare and score less than nine points all day to win the title.

The BTCC race weekend at Brands Hatch begins with two 40-minute free practice sessions on Saturday 20th September, starting at 09.55 and 12.20, followed by a 30-minute qualifying session starting at 15.40. Rounds 28, 29 and 30 of the BTCC take place on Sunday 21st September, with the three 24-lap races around the 1.9 mile Brands Hatch Indy Circuit starting at 11.45, 14.25 and 16.35.
